We've all said at one point in our lives that we would stop procrastinating. And if we are being honest with ourselves, it never plays out the way we would have hoped. I speak from experience. I've just started college two weeks ago and I promised myself that I would not allow myself to fall behind but I have already allowed it. I am three chapters behind on reading and I have an English paper due tomorrow at 8 AM for which I have not yet started.
Procrastination was a huge problem for me in high school and I vowed that I would not let it get the best of me in college. I am on my second week and I can now say that it is becoming an issue once more. Even as I write this post, I am procrastinating.
So my question is, How can we stop procrastination? Can it be stopped?
Does my constant procrastination mean that I don't want it bad enough? That I am unconsciously delaying the results of whatever it is I am working on? Or is it over confidence that causes me to procrastinate? The fact that I know that I will finish on time therefore I wait to the last minute to get it done? I don't know the answer to any of these questions but truth is, I wish I did. I don't like the idea of constantly pushing things back to the last minute but in all honesty, I just can't stop. Or perhaps it's that I just won't.
A day in the life...

New beginnings
When you think of new beginnings, you think about starting over. But does a new beginning necessarily mean you have to start from scratch? Or simply that you have decided on a change? Accepted a new challenge if you will. Throughout my high school career, I could not wait until the day of graduation came. Because I knew that it would mean embarking on a new journey. "Starting over" so to speak. But in reality, you're not really starting over, or beginning anything new for that matter. Rather you are shifting the direction your life is heading. All the things you did in high school still matter in college to a certain extent. You have brought over the knowledge you were taught in those classrooms to the new lectures halls you will learn new material. It's not as if you forgot everything you ever learned previously. As I sit here and contmplate this idea, it becomes more clear to me, you can never really "start over." Life has no "reset" buttons or "do-overs."
